2025 Application Process

Below are the applications for panels to review. Requests were submitted for either program or general operating support for Whatcom County-based operations. The grant application was offered in conjunction with the City of Bellingham this year as they host a grant application every-other year. The United Way addendum is specific to our organization and accompanies the common application. Some questions and responses will appear duplicative as the application process was a two-part submission with some questions repeated by design.

You will find a rubric below to guide you as you read through the materials and assist you in reviewing the narrative grant applications. Each panel will rank grant proposals being reviewed at the completion of the panel meetings.

Among the 24 agencies UWWC currently funds, a cohort has already been selected for an extension of their grant funding. These organizations have already submitted their materials and like the other funded agencies, will submit a year-end report due in June. The remaining 16 applications include 12 currently funded partners and 4 new applicants requesting United Way funding.

We ask that you please disclose any relationships with groups requesting funding to avoid conflicts of interest.

Key Dates:

April 16 from 9-noon or April 24 from 8-noon. Panel Orientation: We will tour local partner nonprofits to hear more about their work and value of being a United Way funded agency. We will also discuss the general approach to the review process and where/how to access grant packets and materials for upcoming meetings.

Panels will meet on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday for two weeks, meeting April 29 – May 9. At each meeting we will discuss applications and hear from organizations that have requested funding to learn more about their services and alignment with United Way mission and goals.

Panel meetings will be held from noon-5pm in the United Way large conference room.
