About Us

United Way of Whatcom County is helping people in your community. However you choose to donate, your money stays in Whatcom County, making a positive difference in individual lives right in your own neighborhood.

When you think about United Way, what comes to mind? For lots of folks, the answer is fund raising. There’s a good reason for that. Last year, United Way of Whatcom County raised over $1.59 million in support of the Community Safety Net.

So, it’s true that United Way raises money for emergency food and shelter, child abuse and neglect prevention, youth character development and many other services provided by 31 partner agencies with over 50 programs in Whatcom County.

But it takes more than money to build a community. It takes people. With your help, United Way has the unique ability, individually and collectively, to achieve broad civic goals that no single donor, citizen or charity could accomplish alone. Dedicated community volunteers provide the leadership. Caring partner agency staff members provide the support. It’s a winning combination that allows United Way to:

- assess needs
- strengthen agencies
- encourage volunteerism
- create a culture of giving
- build community and
- encourage philanthropy.
